About Us
Dig This started from a small store in Victoria in the 1980s. Inspired by the need to find quality garden products when little was available locally, Dig This now has four stores on Vancouver Island and an extensive selection of garden-related products.
Elizabeth Cull - Oak Bay and Market Square.
Elizabeth is a passionate self-taught gardener who comes from a long line of British gardeners: “My great-grandfather had a palm house in England.” Her garden is a barely-tamed English cottage garden, full of old roses, with occasional outbursts of not-for-this climate tropicals!
Virginia Parkhurst - Broadmead Village.
Virginia loves dabbling in her garden and tinkering in her greenhouse, where she starts “tons of zinnias and blue salvia to fill pockets in the garden.” Tomatoes, zucchinis, garlic, and green beans are grown in small pockets as she doesn't have room for a large vegetable garden. The greenhouse produces peppers and, in winter, mescluns and arugula for salads. “My favourite geranium came from my mum, the "Vancouver' – I just love its foliage."
Christiane & Peter Kamerman - Nanaimo.
Peter grew up gardening, as his parents owned a garden centre and a landscaping company in Ontario. Later, Peter managed the garden centre and owned his own landscaping business prior to joining Dig This. Christiane and Peter are now landscaping their latest new home. "Just when our gardens look the way we want, we end up selling" Christiane laments. Peter and Christiane share their time between the business and their two young children.
